I purchased this Musgo pre-shave soap from Alfred at Fendrihan a while ago and have been meaning to write a review for sometime. What can I say other than I was impressed by this glycerin soap. The scent of the soap is great a lemon/lime scent is a perfect balance that gets one prepared for the morning shave. It lathers well and does seem to soften the beard, I leave the lather on my face and use it as a base and then apply the initial lather of my soap or cream. I have found that the soap leaves a nice slick base that assists me during my first pass. As this soap was not expensive at all and lasts a long time I would certainly recommend it to all B&B gents.

I also really enjoy this soap though I don't know if you could call it 'cheap' exactly... The smell is great, kind of like hay or grain or something (didn't get any citrus like another reviewer did) and it lathers like mad. In my case it seems to lack a bit of moisturizing quality and can dry out my face slightly if I don't use fairly cool water to rinse it off. Overall a quality product with great lather and a very unique scent.

Does it make sense to only use this product if I don't shave after showering? Seems like it would be a waste to wash the face yet again after a shower.

I do use it in the shower as a daily face wash whether I'l be shaving after shower or not. I have also found that I have to use this in the shower only as to get a good warm rinse of it as it does tend to dry my skin a bit. I also find it somewhat difficult to get much lather. But I bought it, so Im using it.

Doesn't really do much, in my experience. Actually, it doesn't do anything.

The product is good, very good. I use it to wash my beard before shaving and the preparation is great with the soap. I tried to lather with it but it doesn't really lather... It's pretty cheap for what you get, this soap lasts a while. I would recommend this product as a pre-shave product. However, I think that Proraso Pre/post shave is lightly superior.

I truly appreciate Musgo Real Lime pre-shave soap when used for it's intended purpose. The soap is intended to clean the face and prepare the beard for the application of a shave soap and/or shave cream. I use Musgo Real pre-shave soap to make superlather and find it works wonderfully for this purpose. I combine the loaded brush of Musgo Real lime soap with a dab of Musgo Real Shave cream and it takes them both to a new level. If you have a puck of this soap lying around - give this a try. I think you will be impressed!

I use this soap to wash my face days when I will shave. Regular safeguard takes too many oils out of my face. Preshave oil puts too many oils into my face. So the Musgo is a nice way to get the whiskers prepped and the face clean without going too far.
The smell is nice, nothing really exciting but that's ok. In typical musgo style it doesn't smell much like any other musgo product I've used (which is close to all of them).

I read about this product on the Leisureguy site, so I tried it out. It has replaced Neutrogena as my daily face wash product and I use it before shaving. I detect a bit of lime in the scent, but I'd simply describe the fragrance as a nice, clean smell.
It was hard to rate it for moisturizing properties and latherability, simply because I pay no attention to the former, and it seems to lather just fine as soaps go (its not a shave soap). I'm not sure what it is about this soap, I just know that, after using it over time, I seem to have a clearer complexion and less trouble with nicks and bumps. Its more expensive than Neutrogena, but the results make it worth it to me!

Price: I can't comment, since another user off the B/S/T threw this in for free with a razor.
Quailty: It burns! It burns my slightly sensitive skin! It almost scared me off MWF and Feathers b/c it burned so bad and didn't become noticeable till the second or third pass -- it couldn't possibly be the pre-shave, could it? It completely ruins any shave I use it on.
Latherability: You only really need to lather enough to smear some on your beard and let it soak--not that important, so I won't rate it on this.
Moisturizing: I've got pretty moist skin, so I don't notice moisturizing/drying effects the vast majority of the time, so any rating I'd give would be pretty worthless.
Scent: I really didn't care for it. In fact, I rather disliked it from the beginning, even before it was associated with intense pain.
Efficacy: It did soften my beard considerably.
Packaging: The puck (bar? ball?) I got off B/S/T didn't come in its original packaging, so I can't comment.

A bit pricey for soap, but as I only shave once or twice a week, it lasts for months and months (I keep it in a travel soap case in the shower so it doesn't disintegrate on days I don't use it.)
I'm afraid I'm a bit too new to the wet-shaving thing (less than 3 months) to know how effective it is--it lathers really easily, and feels much more slick than regular bar soap or body wash. But, it was recommended to me, and I really, really enjoy the scent.
I got it on amazon for $9 shipped (hooray for Prime shipping!)
