Q. What can I say that everyone doesn't already know about Proraso?
A. Nothing, but I'm going to repeat a few sentiments anyway.
There is something comforting about the use of a product that has stood the test of time. This is a high quality product that provides its own unique kind of luxury. As long as Proraso continues to do business, I will continue to buy and use their many wonderful products.

Nothing works for me quite the way proraso does. I wonder if there is any product out there that does an equally magnificent job in softening the whiskers. It doesn't lather like the high end creams -proraso is less thick and more lubricating (i guess due to the eucalyptus oil), but after a minute or so... what a great experience. Scent isn't special, but still clean and fresh. My to-go product (the only one on the edge of my sink and not in the cupboard, which means a lot)

To me, this is the least impressive of the Proraso range. Having said that, it's still a very good product that provides a nice shave. At its price point, it's better than Williams, Surrey, et al.
Still, for the true Proraso experience, spring for the extra buck and get the green tube.

I will have to agree with brother Ouch . I was expecting soap instead when I opened the little green plastic bowl to my surprise it was not a hard soap as in the meaning of the word soap but more a hardened version of the Tube green. you can squash the stuff with your fingers. it is less cooling then the Tube green.
still a very good product that delivers like any proraso product.

I like this product. This is probably the easiest soap to lather that I have used, probably because it is so soft. This is a good soap and I think it is far and away the best soap in its price range. It provides very good lubrication. I would recommend this soap to anyone.

Although this is called a soap I think of it more as a cream. The eucalyptus smell is good, but after a while a change is good. This cream is cooling to the face. A good summer cream.

I agree with the positive comments above.
This is a great "no-frills" product - everyone should try this or the tube at least once in their wetshaving career.
I used to use this and the cream in the tube (before I subscribed to B&B ) almost exclusively. It is a great product for the summer and cools as well as the mint creams/soaps.
In many ways, the Proraso soap/cream is one of my benchmark products.
Oh, and it works great without a brush - just scoop some out, rub between dry hands, spread on face and then use wet hands to lather up. Not as fun as with a brush, but great if you're in a rush (I may copyright that last bit!).

So far, I've tried nothing that works better for me than the Proraso soap. I like their cream too, but the soap just seems to lather more easily and give me more consistent shaves. This will remain in my toiletry locker in perpetuity.

I hate this soap. There, I said it.
I tried to get in the mindset of the others on here - I respect the fact that this is an elder in the shave soap community. That this product has a rich history with generations of hirsute Italian men.
I even read the other Proraso threads and attempted various ways to create lather with this difficult soap. I tried a pre-charging of glycerin soap ala "superlather", I used a vegetable glycerine pre-shave. I did it all.
And this soap still failed all around. Poor lather. Lather starts to break down immediately. Smells terrible. Dries your face. Provides horrible lubrication.
Every other soap or creme I have beats it soundly: Pirate's Cove, Mama Bear, Taylors... Hell, even my .99 cent plain glycerin soap whips into a richer, creamier lather.

Price -- EUR1.49. This is the cheapest stuff on the planet!
Quality -- was a little confused by its softness, it isn't a soap as we know it. Having said this, it is presented nicely in a series of ripples.
Scent -- strongly minty eucalyptus scent. Highly cooling on the final cool water rinse. *wow*
Lather -- yes, it lathers.
Efficacy -- nice lubrication to my razor.
Moisturising -- face is a little tight and dry after using this stuff.
All things considered, at this price, a great tub of shaving soap/cream.

Proraso is my new favorite cream after using it for the majority of my Christmas vacation and it lasting the test of time, I still use it out here in the frigid Utah weather and think it works great. The thing I like the most about it is the eucalyptus properties how after a few uses the skin behaves very well and it's almost as if it contains some antimicrobial qualities or at least skin stimulating properties that I can't quite put my finger on, but it makes your skin feel and look great.
The cooling factor I found once in this product is kinda strange because after lathering it on your face for a certain amount of time the coolness goes away and is replaced by a warmth (so it's all the much better on that part for me).

This was my first soap and it is still one I go to frequently. The scent will make sure you're up in the morning but it will give you a good shave.

This is definitely a soap and should be treated as such. I believe many problems arise from taking quantities from the container and trying to mix elsewhere due to the soft consistency of it. I mix it straight in the bowl (as I do all soaps) after having left some hot water on top to soften it up. It lathers up very well using this method and gives a slick smooth shave. The mentholated effect is not for everyone but I love it in warmer weather. This is a soap I will always have in my collection.

When I first started wetshaving I browsed these forums and watched Mantic's excellent videos extensively. Seemed Proraso was a reputable brand and at that time was still available in my local Target. Have now moved on and tried quite a few other products, but seem to appreciate the Proraso more every time I go back to it. The smell is not one of my favorites, but sure brings back memories of good shaves before. Everybody should try some, and I would guess Proraso probably has more return business than any other brand (meaning if you bought it once, you'll buy it again some time in the future).

Shaved with the Omega version of this today, first Proraso experience. I found that it worked well, but I was actually expecting more of a scent. The thing that got me was the cooling effect though. The menthol in this stuff takes charge. I will keep in in rotation just for that feeling. It kind of dried out my skin though, so I will have to use a balm with it.
