Description:
When I got my box from Nancy Boy last week I was really looking forward to trying this shave cream. Not knowing if I'd really like it or not, I ordered the travel size as a "tester." Now I'm sorry I didn't buy the big tub.

This has quickly become my "go to" shave cream, even better than my Trumpers Sandalwood. The scent is fantastic, it feels great on the face, and produces the closest shave I've been able to get so far. Its really a perfect product (my 9 in latherability has more to do, I suspect, with my techniques than the shave cream at this point).

The only problem is that I've been miserly in using this cream as I only have the travel size right now. . .mmm, must buy as much Nancy Boy shave cream as I can. . .

I'll have to admit I had trepidations about ordering Nancy Boy products. Not because of their background, but because they are "unknown". What I found is a great shaving cream backed by a company that offers superb customer service.

I received this shave cream from a friend on this forum. I was skeptical about this product but was pleasantly surprised with the quality. I would reorder this shave cream.

This cream is great. If I could change anything about it I'd make the lavender scent a bit stronger. The cream works great and my skin feels ultra soft and smooth after I'm done shaving with it.....without any aftershave or moisturizers. It's great and their customer service is the best I have ever been the pleasure to deal with. Do yourself a favor and pick up a tub and a thing of their aftershave gel. It's like $26 delivered.

I have to say that I've turned 180 degrees on my opinion of this stuff. I was just NOT getting good shaves with it. After a few e-mails to Eric Roos of NB - I found out that I just flat out wasn't using enough. He says that it was designed to be used brushless. And although you CAN whip it up into lather - he suggested that I just try gobbing it on my fact with my (GASP) hand.

Now, we all know a self-respecting wetshaver can't do that...

So - I loaded up on the cream (via my BRUSH ), and the shaves were literally TRANSFORMED! Wonderful stuff!! I like the smell fine, I'm not as enamored with it as others, but I like the fact that's it's different and distinct.

Very moisturizing as well.

Just goes to show you - don't judge a products too early (like I did)! You never know what you might miss!

Nancy Boy really is "the best a man can get!"

It is currently my number ONE favorite "Go To" cream!

Price: $13.60 ($16 - 15% NB Club Discount) for a six ounce tub. For comparison purposes this puts it in the Taylor of Bond Street price range. IMHO NB is the best value I have discovered in a premium shave cream.

Quality: Made of high quality natural ingredients, which produce a superior quality lather and ultimately produces the best shave of any cream I currently own, including the 3T's. I am having to make myself use my Trumpers, Taylors and Coates now that I have discovered NB.

Scent: Currently available only in the Nancy Boy Signature Scent [Lav-Pep-Rosemary]. It actually took a few shaves for this scent to "grow" on me. I now really enjoy the fresh, minty, clean fragrance. I was concerned that the Peppermint might cause a reaction, since I have an extreme sensitivity to menthol, but I have experienced NO irritation of discomfort and love the mild cooling effect it produces. It does not linger on the skin to interfere with colognes. I am anxiously awaiting other [more traditional] scents to be available in NB shave cream. My correspondence with them indicates that it is highly possible more scents will be introduced. Some variety would be nice, but if it doesn't happen, the quality of this stuff outweighs my need for additional scents.

Latherability: Luxurious! Rich! Creamy! And did I mention that it is the most luxurious, rich and creamy shave cream I have experienced. In addition the lather is the "most cushioning" and protective of any lather I have ever shaved with. I like a "wet" consistency that is painted on like a thick cream, not a foam; and that is where NB really shines! I get zero irritation and have been "nick free" with NB. By the way, NB was intended as a "brushless" cream, but I can't stand the thoughts of not using a brush with it...and it lathers very well with a brush!

Efficacy: Easily produces a nice lather and super smooth shave.

Moisturizing Properties: My face always feels moisturized when I complete my shave, never dry. However, I still use a light moisturizing balm. Sometimes I use the NB Cooling After Shave Gel with a little Naturade Aloe 80. My favorite moisturizer balm, thus far, is Oil of Olay Active Hydrating Beauty Fluid combined with Naturade Aloe 80.

Packaging: The plastic packaging is on par with most other upscale shave creams. This stuff deserves a glass jar, however, I know that would just add to the cost [I esteem it so highly I may transfer mine to a glass jar].

And I must add that their customer service is first class!

I was a little hesitant to try the NB products, I dunno why, just didn't rock my boat. So I ordered a travel size tub and some of their signature scent bar soap and what a mistake it was: I should have got the full tub.

NB cream is absolutely fantastic, neat scent and great quality shaves. Lathers up excellently (and does require a bit more cream than the 3T's to work the same). It continues to perform consistantly over and again.

The scent is sweet & spicy, rosemary and mint aroma that is very clean and refreshing. It's unlike anything else out there. Leaves the face smooth, soft, moisturized and supple. Just superb stuff.

At the price, it's a damn steal. Great company to deal with as well, they certainly are generous with samples and timely response to questions via email.

Everyone should absolutely try NB Cream.

There really isn't much I can add to what has already been said, suffice to say I am a big fan of this fine shaving cream. The scent is absolutely fantastic, as is the quality and quantity of the lather, the closeness of the shave and the moisturising effects of the cream. NB provides a thick, cushioning lather that feels very comfortable on the face and even if you don't use quite enough water (this cream like quite a bit of h2o) it is still very lubricious. You do need a bit more cream on your brush with this particular brand, but the copious amount of lather that results is truly impressive.

On the face the cream is much thicker and less airy than a classic English cream and consequently it provides superior protection without sacrificing lubrication. This cream is so good that I think it will definitely help to compensate for any weakness in one's technique.

Overall a five star product that should be in every wet shavers rotation.

Warm regards,

Alex

This is a really nice cream and to get the full effect, you need to use a shaving vessel of some kind.

I have lathered directly on the face and it works fine, but when you use a vessel the lather and scent just explode out of it!

Great shave with this cream. Use lots of water and it will lather quite generously with a brush. I wish the scent had a bit more menthol in it, but I like it a lot, overall.

Great product, up there with the best imported creams.

My wife picked some of this up for me while in San Francisco (said their shop is pretty cool). I've been very happy with it, though it seems to be going fast even though I'm watching the amounts used closely. Don't bother with the aftershave though, I'm not to pleased with it.

I received my package from Nancy Boy about a week ago, at first I honestly wasn't too impressed. I opened the tub and a fresh minty aroma wafted out, twinged with lavender and rosemary. But mostly mint, peppermint. One very cool thing though that with my first order they threw in a body bar for free. Very good. Also you can join the Nancy Boy club on their website and get 15% off everything all the time. But back to the cream, a somewhat oily viscous solution. Oily in appearance only not feel. Very thick and clung to the brush. Now the lather is great, it takes a bit of water and after about a minute it explodes in the bowl. I had an especially long shave tonight, 6 passes, twice my normal and I had loads left, I think I could have started over and done the whole thing again. The quality is also fantastic the foam holds to your face in exactly the same place you put it and won't budge. It provides wonderful slick lubrication the razor just glides. Pass after pass your face feels cool and mosturized. Razor burn is minimized and comfort is maximized. It has a wonderful cool feeling at the close, similary to Proraso but not nearly as intense. A good year round cream. The scent is not something I particularly enjoy, it's clean but IMO its not very masculine, but it fades very quickly and the ingredients are very effective. Like I said I'm not someone who enjoys the scent, but I'll still buy the cream, so don't let the frangrance discourage you either. IMO even if a frangrance is not your favorite and if it fades who cares, if it works, it works. As this stuff really works. The price is $16 for a 150g tub, which is a little steep for me and shipping is an automatic $7 so it's really $23, but is a product I'm really happy with and I will definately buy again.

Nancy Boy cream is a great product and I hope you at least hit up Scotto for some samples. I'm really looking forward to trying the Aftershave, if it is as heavy with the peppermint it could be some nice stuff as well.

I tried this cream this morning and it's got the top spot for me. It produces lather and holds water just like Taylors creams. I think the shave was very good actually. I was kinda worried that it would provide too much cushion, but it was a perfect blend of what a cream should be. It has great moisture qualities as well when you're done shaving. Not as much moisture as say, honeybee soaps, but enough to realize that you've used a cream.

This is my number one goto cream as of now.

General: As a new wetshaver, I had read about this over at shaveblog. I was intrigued enough to stop by their shop in SF on a recent trip and pick up a tub. It took a few days to figure out the right water/cream ratio, but once I did, the cream just clung to my face, and gave me one of the most wonderful slick shaves I've ever gotten. My face on the second morning was about as smooth still as it used to be after a gel shave from my pre-enlightenment days. They also sell travel sizes, which is perfect foor me as I travel quite a bit. Even without a brush when travelling, this stuff still delivers with excellent moisturizing properties. My face always feels amazing afterwards, and I've even forgotten to moisturize afterwards so good does it feel.

Scent: As a norcal guy living amongst eucalyptus groves, with lavendar and rosemary bushes all around, along with a huge mint box out back, this stuff made me feel liek home. I've never really liked scented creams, but I so enjoyed this scent that I'm going to get the aftershave and some other products to keep it around me, lightly, all day long. Wonderful stuff.
