What is this?

My mother in law recently gave me a razor that looks like the photo below. She got it at a flea market or something. The blade says it was patented in 1911, so I expect it to not be available anymore. Does anyone know anything about this blade. The brand is Durham Duplex.

I've seen a few of these at antique shops. I nearly lost my head and bought one but I resisted the temptation. I'm not sure if blades are available that fit this particular razor but you might want to check a beauty supply shop. They usually have a variety of specialty blades.

Thanks Rich. I'm still trying to figure out what the toothed guard thing is for. Perhaps a lifting mechanism?

I believe it's called a thinner or something. Stylists use it to trim hair, not for shaving, afaik

While you may try a Shavette, I believe it's best to get an actual straight

Good luck

It's a Durham Duplex, supposedly for shaving. Blades aren't available anymore for this, but Durham still exist, and they make a blade for their animal trimmer that looks like it might be the same blade.

These things go in the $5-$10 on eBay, if they attract any bids at all.
