Timeless Razor Stand - plastic insert?

I have a Timeless Razor stand. I like the look but I am not liking how it's not lined to prevent scratches on the handle. Anyone have any solutions? I'm tempted to line it with electrical tape.... But am curious if there is any other "more elegant" options.

This is why I don’t use razor stands. I just lay the unassembled razor pieces down on a microfiber surface.

I cut strips from a platic document sleeve, just wide enough to sit below the lip of the stand, rolled them up and then dropped them in. They unrolled to sit flush with the interior of the hole, and keep the handle snug and prevent scratching. They are also easy enough to remove/replace if required. The other benefit is that you can easily tailor the thickness by the length of the strip.
