The Brown Leaf Stock Exchange is open to all Contributors, and the Brown Leaf Tag has been eliminated because it was an accounting nightmare for the guy who does the accounting of the books.
The purpose of the $1 purchase via PayPal was to verify at least 18 years old, as that's a requirement of PayPal.
As Contributors have to go the same route, it was considered the easiest option.

Thanks for correcting me Phil! I didn't realize that method had been discontinued.
