Do you regard "cushion" the same as "protective"?
how could lather be a myth? it’s been used for generations to provide glide and protection to skin during shaving.
aside from scent, the other ingredients in soaps and creams are used to soften the hair and hydrate the skin.
The razor doesn’t necessarily remove all the soap ingredients or their efficacy.
with my soaps i still feel slickness on my skin after a razor pass.
either way, it’s great you found a product that provides you with exceptional performance.

Based on my experience with both Jack Black and Kiehl’s Ultimate, cushion has nothing to do with a drama free shave. All else being equal the amount of friction is the key not any kind of barrier on the skin.
