Crayfish (Lobster) in Australia.

Looks like Crayfish is off the menu this Christmas. Allthough abundant in our waters,the demand from overseas and the plummeting Aussie dollar has seen the price hit $AU120 per kilogram. About $US60 per pound. And to think,we used to call ourselves the lucky country. Time to get out the poaching gear.

Do you really call Lobster "crayfish?" Where I come from (North East USA) Lobsters are big and from salt water, and crayfish (crEyfish?) are small and from fresh water.

That's a lobster!

It's too bad that shipping cost would add enormously to the price of Maine lobsters (Pronounced 'lobstah'). The current prices for that right now is less than ground beef!
