The repairs were usually to restore broken teeth. I believe there will be a second serial number on the baseplate preceded by the letter L to designate the repair. Could you post a pic of that?

Thanks for the positive words gents. It was indeed an almost surreal experience. The hunting for razors of course continued after that post, so this is how the little museum looks so far

... and I have some exciting stuff on the way from the US which hopefully will show up before Christmas
