Excellent shave. The Derby started out tuggy and grabby, but I guess the third time's the charm, as it was nice and smooth, and gave a close, comfortable shave with very little irritation.
The VdH Select surprised me with loads of nice, fat lather. Literally exploded out of the bowl. The pic was taken after a three pass shave. Loads of lather left. The Semogue did not hurt, either. I spent an hour today burning through that puck of VdH Select, breaking it in. Very nice.
Have a great shave, everyone!

* Mike, great-looking pic and the lather looks wonderful!

Wonderful shave. Liking the 7 o'clock very much, possible keeper. Taylor Rose cream almost odorless, but great performer; it goes into my War of the Roses.

DFS++. Harris Pink soothing but very tame in scent and bite.

Camera the next time.

RazoRock The Freedberg Soap / Muhle STF Brush / Weber Polished Head with Feather Blade / RazoRock The Freedberg AS / GFT edt

Lots of new stuff in the mail late last week, so there's plenty of new stuff to try. The DE came in Thursday afternoon and this is my second shave with it. My initial impressions are very positive; it's very easy and intuitive for me to get a great shave. The Razorock stuff came in yesterday, so this is my first time using it (and indeed, first time using Razorock products in general). The soap is good, but I'll need some more shaves before passing judgement. The scent is awesome, like a tropical fruit but somehow not quite as sweet. I find the aftershave to be very interesting as well. The simple ingredients (water, alcohol, scent) are similar to any aftershave splash you find in a drugstore or supermarket. However, the inclusion of menthol makes it more interesting. There's an intense burn when you put it on your skin, but only for a second or two. After that, the menthol kicks in and almost cancels the burn out. Of course, the scent here is unlike any aftershave you can get in CVS. The aftershave scent is a little more complex then the one in the soap. I shaved about an hour ago and I'm still catching a whiff here and there.
